Fancy being directed by one of Galway's most exciting and creative theatremakers?

At Galway Actors Workshop we pride ourselves on giving our students the opportunity to perform in public in meaningful challenging roles. The last year has seen productions as diverse as Will Eno's existential drama MIDDLETOWN, Lucy Kirkwood's satirical representation of the media NSFW, Federico Garcia Lorca's poetic tragedy BLOOD WEDDING and Euripides' Greek tragedy of revenge MEDEA.

We are pleased to announce that physical performer and theatre-maker James Riordan will be returning to direct our next production which will take place from 6th to 9th December at the Town Hall Studio.

James trained in physical theatre at LISPA in London and the ATP in Berlin. He was a core member of the alt-drag troupe The LipSinkers in London for 3 years, touring and performing extensively. He has been on stage with the ENO and the Vaults London, Absurda Comica in Berlin and has worked in choreography, devised theatre and children's theatre on both sides of the pond. He is a Performance Director with Macnas and most recently he was a participant on Druid’s FUEL programme. This year he set up a brand new theatre company, Brú Theatre, which has already been making waves on the Irish theatre scene with sold-out performances of CLEITE and the upcoming THE FISHERWIVES which is being made in tandem with Galway 2020.

Rehearsals will start with a group workshop on Wednesday 26th September at the Anno Santo Hotel from 7pm to 10pm. The play will then be chosen by James and a rehearsal schedule agreed upon that suits everyone.

To apply for the course, send an email to galwayactorsworkshop@gmail.com outlining your experience. You don't need loads, we are delighted if this turns out to be your first full-length play, but recommend that you have done some kind of beginners course or previous performance in advance.

Cost is €320/300 (concession) with an early bird rate of €300/280 if you book before 17th September.
