Quality Drama Training for Adults
Galway Actor’s Workshop was originally set up to open the experience of drama and performance to the adults of Galway, but due to popular demand, we have now extended this to include young adults too! We have also started classes in Ennis and are looking at venues in Mayo for later in the Summer, so we won’t be calling ourselves “Galway Actors Workshop” for much longer, we reckon!
We believe that, for everyone who has always wanted to “just give it a try”, it is never too late! While providing you with solid training at whatever level you choose, we also hope to enable you to experience the fun and personal creativity that comes from engaging with drama.
We run courses all year round and cater to a variety of levels and interests. There are always courses for beginners, improvers and those who want to learn more advanced, specialised skills, as well as those seeing to gain experience in live performance.
Performance is at the heart of what we do. All courses, except beginners, culminate in a public showcase performance in a city theatre and we regularly mount full-scale productions in which students are directed by professional directors.
Class sizes are kept limited to enable the highest quality tuition possible and, while we prepare students for the business of acting, we aim to instil a love for and deep fascination with the craft of acting in itself and the many things it has to offer.
We have an open-door policy for past students - with a Facebook group and newsletter for casting news, recommending them for roles when asked and advising them on the next stages of their career, even if that means recommending them for courses with other teachers who we feel are more suitable!
We work with some of Galway (and further afield’s) most interesting theatre practitioners in delivering courses and productions, giving students an opportunity to engage with a wealth of experience and different performance and teaching styles.
Now are looking forward to taking elements of training online with our forthcoming sister project Acting in the Real World.
